Senior Production Scientist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Production Scientist to join the dynamic team at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, King's College London. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing advanced manufacturing, production, and technical operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting cutting-edge pharmaceutical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Management: Oversee and coordinate day-to-day production activities within the laboratory and production facilities.

  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all production processes meet strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and health and safety standards.

  • Equipment & Resource Management: Maintain and calibrate complex laboratory and manufacturing equipment, and manage material inventories.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor junior technicians and production staff to ensure high operational efficiency.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production batches, protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Collaboration: Work closely with researchers, academics, and external partners to support the translation of pharmaceutical formulations from the laboratory to production scale.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.

  • Proven experience in a production, manufacturing, or laboratory setting, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare sector.

  • Strong understanding of GMP, regulatory compliance, and quality control procedures.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
